Representatives of the CFMEU Forest and Forest Products Division recently met with key Woolworths representatives to discuss some of the issues surrounding “ethical sourcing” and tender criteria for the Select Brand tissue products.

In the context of this discussion, the CFMEU Forest and Forest Products Division has undertaken to provide Woolworths with advice regarding the criteria we believe should be included in the tendering process to ensure the paper sourcing meets the full complement of relevant sustainability criteria.  These criteria include legal compliance, international labour standards, forest certification and external review processes.

The CFMEU Forest and Forest Products Division has also offered to meet with Woolworths again in February, 2009 to discuss the progress of this issue.
